End of an Era

For the first time in 6 years we do not have a Sparky.  On May 7th our last child finished the Sparks program.  Many years ago Dave and I began working in Awana before we were married.  It was a strange transition when we became parents of Awana Clubbers and now we have only T&T clubbers left!

The Little Robin

Working from home has brought me the opportunity to increase my appreciation of my home and nature around. Every year a pair of robins tries to build a nest above my front door. Normally we keep cleaning it off and work hard to keep that nest from forming above the door, but this year I decided to let them construct their nursery. Everyone was excited when four little blue eggs were added to the nest and we all watched eagerly, waiting daily for the eggs to hatch. Then one day, we saw one of the robins bending down and sure enough, four little birds were in the nest. They were so small that their beaks did not even reach the top of the nest when they opened their mouth for their parents to feed them. Day by day they grew until we looked yesterday, and it almost looked like four grown robins in the nest. Our Trip to Montana - Days 10, 11, and 12

Days 10, 11, 12 We woke up at 9am on Sunday and realized that we were supposed to be out of the cabin by 10am.   Well that wasn’t going to happen, so we showered and began packing.   By 10:30am the van was loaded and it was time to say goodbye to the family.   Soon we would all head out to our various areas of the country.   Michael, Amber, and RJ are stationed in Virginia.   Alan, Colleen, and Tim live in Oregon.   Andrea and James are in Washington.     Steve and Jan live   in California.   Pat, Jim, and Danette are in Iowa and we live in Wisconsin.   This leaves Charissa and Keith in Montana. Ryan plays in Bigfork. Our van forced us to stop for one last time in Bigfork.   Dave found a geocache and placed our two new travel bugs in it.   His bug wants to see all 50 states and mine wants to visit all of the National Parks.   Hopefully they will have successful journeys and not be stolen from there cache.   We co...

Spring Break 2012 - The Trip Out East

With a last minute opportunity to have a time-share at a very reasonable price, it was decided that our stay at home Spring Break plans were going to change.   We moved up our plans to see the Washington DC area and scheduled a trip.   Our journey began on March 23 rd from Green Bay, WI with a goal to make it as far as we could.   We made good time despite the torrential down pours.   Our first day covered Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.   We made it to the end of Ohio and decided to stop for the night.   The boys spent an hour in the swimming pool which is a great way for them to unwind.   It was amazing how one year of maturity had changed our trip and made it much more enjoyable for everyone.
