Ryan's 8th Birthday

Image
On July 1, 2013 Ryan will turn 8.   We decided to have his birthday party early this year, as many of his friends are gone the week of July 1 st due to the holiday.   Ryan had debated between a backyard party and going someplace.   In the end he had decided to do Build A Bear and Monsters University at the theater.   This party was more elaborate than our normal parties but since Ryan normally had parties at home we decided he was due for a party elsewhere.   It turned out to be a good thing that we did not choose the backyard party, as I ended up having surgery the weekend before his party.   I was very thankful for two dear friends who came and helped with the party.   Since I am on a lifting restriction and supposed to be taking it easy, I wasn’t much help! The kids arrived at the party at Build A Bear.   Every child was able to pick out a bear or dog of their choice.   Once the animals were picked they road on their new ow...

Surprising Thursday

Thursday was a normal day.   The day started with a trip to Stevens Point to visit with my new facility management team and then home for dinner.   I was so proud of myself and I even had dinner ready ahead of time for Rosi to stick into the oven.   I was running late and had not had lunch so I stopped at quick trip in Waupaca for a quick snack.   I would later regret this choice.   But little did I know what was coming. I got home just in time to eat a quick bite and then it was off to Josh’s game.   The coach was gone so I was needed to help do the book.   I enjoy doing the book, so I was excited about this opportunity.   My dad arrived to watch the game and we all were set to enjoy the game.   Then it happened.   About 15 minutes into the game I got a horrible pain in my stomach that went all the way through to my back.   I tried to ignore it, but it just got worse and it was spreading. Did I eat something that was spoiled? ...

Sparks Camp 2013

Image
This year Dave and I agreed to help with Sparks Camp.  Since it was Ryan's last year of Sparks and the year he could go to camp, we thought it would be a perfect year to help.  We brought Josh along to help and he was a great help.  Joey, Ryan's friend from church also came along. Since camp was about 2 hours away and we had to be there early, we decided to spend the night in Stevens Point.  The boys had fun playing in the pool at the hotel.  Then the boys and I drove to Belts Drive-in while Dave worked on a work issue.  The next day was a day full of fun for Joey and Ryan! Joey finds a bug! Ryan rolls down the hill while Joey runs!

Camp Luther - Memorial Day Camp

Image
Once again we headed off to Camp Luther for Memorial Day Family Camp.  This time Grandma Rosi came with us.  While the weather was much cooler than last years camp, we still had a lot of fun.   Ryan went swimming even though it was cold.  It only lasted for a quick swim!   Grandma Rosi experienced her first guppy races and had as much fun as the kids racing her fish.  Her fish was named Rosi, because she thought they wanted her name first.  She decided that the name was fine and so the name stayed Rosi.  Rosi made it into a second race but finally lost. We had lunch on the lake one day.  Everyone had to paddle out to get their food.  Rosi went on her first canoe ride and probably her last, but you never know!  Josh and I took kayaks out.  This was a first time event at family camp and we all had a lot of fun! Dave and the boys enjoyed the zip line and we all enjoyed archery.  Josh and Dave particip...

Surprise Trip to Oregon

Image
On May 18th Rosi and I headed on a trip to Oregon to surprise Andrea, Rosi's granddaughter by showing up for her baby shower.  Andrea did not know that we were coming.  Alan and Colleen picked us up at the airport.  We went to Hillsboro for the night and then the next day we headed with Colleen to help her get ready for the baby shower.  Since we had so much to bring we ended up taking two cars. Colleen drove in first and then we followed.  It was so much fun to walk into the house after Colleen and see the look on Andrea's face when we were there. The emotions raced across her face and we knew that the trip was well worth it.  Soon it was time to head over to the lodge to prepare for the baby shower.  I was very happy to be able to help Colleen arrange the flowers and do some prep-cooking.  The best part was getting to spend time with family that we do not get to see very often.  On Monday night, Craig, Olivia and their two kids a...

On May 17, 2013 we all went down to see Laura's brother John earn his Masters Degree at Concordia University.  Rosi Nolan, Bob and Anita Ohlson, Dave, Laura, Josh and Ryan all attended this special event where we recognized John's hard work.  John's friends Dorothy and Pete also joined us as we celebrated his graduation.
